While regular cars are taxed at the pump, commercial trucks are taxed by how much they weigh and how far they go. If the driver doesn’t have the right paperwork during a safety inspection, he may be subject to a fine. Similarly, if the driver understates or overstates how much he is carrying in the truck or how far he is carrying it, he may receive a citation.
