CDL Training for Veterans

Portland’s VA-approved Truck Driver Training School

Elite Truck School is proud to offer Class A CDL training to military veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, dependents, and their spouses. As Portland’s only VA-approved truck driving training program, you can use your military benefits for our Hillsboro and Portland CDL training locations.

Each year, thousands of active-duty service members and veterans choose to take advantage of VA Education Benefits to attend truck driver training school after or during their military service. For many, it’s the single best way to increase a post-military quality of life. At Elite Truck School, we have helped hundreds of veterans begin their new careers as professional truck drivers.

At Elite Truck School, we are committed to helping veterans and their families make the most of their veterans benefits and assist them in applying for funding and financial aid programs such as the 9/11 GI Bill®. We are experienced in the process and understand the unique challenges veterans face when transitioning to civilian life and are here to provide the support and guidance they need to succeed.

CDL TRAINING AND VETERAN’S BENEFITS

Chapter 30 – Montgomery GI Bill® (MGIB)

The Montgomery GI Bill was designed for Veterans and Service-members who have at least two years of active duty. If you are eligible, you may receive up to 36 months of benefits, paid based on the type of career training, length of service, and other requirements.

Chapter 33 – Post 9/11 GI Bill®

Elite Truck School has helped many veterans take advantage of their Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits. If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active-duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or if you are an honorably discharged Veteran, or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you may be eligible for this program. Our CDL training program is just four weeks long, but for approved programs, the Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides up to 36 months of benefits.

Chapter 35 – Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program (DEA)

If you are a family member of a Veteran, Elite Truck School may be able to help you as well. This program offers education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.

Chapter 31 – Veteran Readiness and Employment Benefit (VR&E)

If you are a veteran who has a VA disability rating and an employment handicap, you may be entitled to counseling, training, education, and job placement assistance under this program. Suzanne at the Hillsboro, OR Campus can help you navigate this program, and learn if this is the best program for you.

Chapter 1606 – Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)

Reservists can qualify for professional truck driver training as well. The Chapter 1606 provides education and training benefits to eligible members of the Selected Reserve, including the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Selected Reserve components and VA makes the payments.
